Hospital Pre-Authorisation

Please note that it is compulsory to obtain pre-authorisation from Momentum Health prior to going into hospital, a day clinic or day ward at a hospital. To avoid having to foot hospital bills themselves, members are strongly encouraged to obtain pre-authorisation by calling 0860 102 493.

Access members

If authorisation is not obtained, a 30% co-payment will apply to all claims relating to the treatment, provided authorisation would have been granted according to the rules of the Scheme. In the case of an amergency you, or someone in your family may obtain authorisation within 72 hours of admission.

Information needed when phoning:

• Diagnosis
• Procedure
• Treating Doctor's name & practice number
• Referring Doctor's name & practice number
• Name of hospital or day clinic
• Date and time of admission
• Duration of stay in hospital
• Approximate cost (if possible)

Dial the toll free number 0860 102 493. Call once for each admission. A reference number will be given, which must be kept as proof of authorisation. Ingwe will authorise a predetermined amount of funding for the hospitalisation. When admitted to hospital, membership will be verified and this authorisation number will be required.

Pre-Authorisation for emergency treatment / casualty benefits

Please note that it is compulsory to obtain pre-authorisation from Momentum Health when you are about to visit / consult a service provider which does not belong to your chosen network. To avoid having to foot your bill, we strongly encourage you to obtain pre-authorisation by calling 0860 102 493.

Please remember this benefit is limited to R770 per event (up to a maximum of 2 events per family per year) and you are responsible for payment of 20% of the total bill.

Pre-Authorisation for specialist benefits out-of-hospital

Ingwe members

Phone 0860 102 493 for pre-authorisation of specialist and physiotherapy treatment. This benefit is limited to 2 visits per year, a maximum of R700 per event and total benefit value of R1 150 for the year. You are responsible for payment of 10% of the total bill.

Access members

Phone your network provider (Primecure, CareCross or Medicross) to access the benefit. The benefit is limited to 3 visits per beneficiary per year and a maximum of 5 visits per family per year.
